Carer jobs in Malta
Families in Malta and Gozo post carer jobs here: looking after an older parent at home, live-in or visiting. These are jobs with one household, not hospital or care-home posts, and they are for carers who already live in Malta with the right to work here.
Carers never pay. Creating a profile and replying to jobs are free, and Maltese law bars charging anyone looking for work for employment services. If anyone asks you for money for a job, don't pay.
CarerMalta doesn't sponsor visas or arrange permits, and a job posted here is not a Jobsplus or EURES vacancy advert. Create a free profile so families can contact you too; you must be 18 or over.

Do I have to pay to get a carer job in Malta?
No. Maltese law says no payment or charge may be demanded from anyone looking for work in return for employment services, and nothing may be deducted from your wages for them (S.L. 452.130, reg. 10, checked 15 Sep 2026). Creating a profile and replying to jobs on CarerMalta are always free.
Can I apply from outside Malta?
No. Jobs and profiles on CarerMalta are for people who already live in Malta with the right to work here. CarerMalta doesn't sponsor visas or take part in permit applications, and a job posted here is not a Jobsplus or EURES vacancy advert.
How do I change employer as a carer with a single permit?
If you hold a single permit, your new employer applies to Identità for a change of employer, and you can't start the new job until Identità has authorised it. Identità lists the change-of-employer fee as €600 (Identità, checked 20 Oct 2026). Our guide for carers explains each step.
What pay and rights does a carer working for a family have?
The Domestic Service order sets the 2026 minimums for household workers: €1,016.37 a month for live-in workers who sleep in at least 17 nights a month, €1,000.08 a month for other monthly workers and €5.82 an hour for hourly workers (L.N. 288 of 2025, checked 15 Sep 2026). You also get a weekly rest day, paid double if you work it, the national and public holidays with full pay, and sick leave from your first day (S.L. 452.170, checked 15 Sep 2026). See your rights as a carer.
Do I need a qualification to work as a carer?
No permit rule requires one, and the Skills Pass is for hospitality and food jobs, not care work (Identità, checked 20 Oct 2026). Families who claim the Carer at Home subsidy do need a carer with a recognised qualification, with MQRIC equivalence for qualifications from abroad (servizz.gov.mt, checked 15 Sep 2026), so list yours on your profile.
