Carers in Malta
Browse carers who already live in Malta or Gozo and support older people at home: company, meals, moving around the house safely, washing and dressing, and help with the household. Each profile is written by the carer and lists experience, languages, skills such as elderly care and personal care, whether they want a live-in or live-out role, and when they can start.
CarerMalta is an advertising platform, not an agency. You read the profiles, contact the carers you would like to meet and arrange interviews yourselves. Profiles are sorted by who was most recently active, and there are no agency fees on either side.
Your family becomes the employer. If your parent is over 60, the government's Carer at Home scheme can help with the wage when the carer holds a recognised qualification. Carers give personal and household support, not medical care: for medical needs, speak to your GP.

Common questions
Where can I find a private carer in Malta?
Browse the profiles on this page: carers who live in Malta or Gozo list their experience, languages and availability, and you contact them directly. You can also post a free job and see who replies. Your family becomes the employer, so read how to employ a carer directly first.
What is the Carer at Home scheme?
A government subsidy for people over 60 who employ a carer of their choice, offered in Malta and Gozo. In 2026 it pays up to €9,000 a year, monthly into the applicant's bank account. The carer must hold a recognised qualification, and qualifications from abroad need MQRIC equivalence (servizz.gov.mt, checked 15 Sep 2026). CarerMalta isn't part of the scheme or any government department: you apply through Active Ageing and Community Care (AACC). Our Carer at Home guide explains who qualifies.
How much is a carer paid in Malta?
Pay is a term you agree with the carer, at or above the legal minimum. The Domestic Service order sets the 2026 minimums for household workers: €1,016.37 a month for live-in workers who sleep in at least 17 nights a month, €1,000.08 a month for other monthly workers and €5.82 an hour for hourly workers (L.N. 288 of 2025, checked 15 Sep 2026). Our guide to live-in carer pay and costs sets out bonuses and social security too.
Does CarerMalta check carers?
Every helper confirms their mobile number with an SMS code before their profile can go live. We don't check identity, qualifications, documents or references, and we don't rank carers: profiles are sorted by recent activity. Qualifications are as stated by the carer, so make your own checks at interview. Our interview guide has a checklist.
Can I employ a carer from outside the EU?
Yes, through Identità's single permit, but the carers listed here already live in Malta. The permit fee for a live-in carer is €27.50, and elderly care roles don't need a Jobsplus or EURES vacancy advert first (Identità, checked 20 Oct 2026; Identità, checked 20 Oct 2026). CarerMalta doesn't take part in permit applications. Our non-EU carer guide explains the official steps.
