Cleaning and housekeeping jobs in Malta

Families in Malta and Gozo post household jobs here: cleaning, laundry, ironing, cooking and running a home, live-in or live-out, for one household. These are not hotel or office cleaning jobs.

The jobs are for people who already live in Malta with the right to work. CarerMalta doesn't sponsor visas or arrange permits, and a job posted here is not a Jobsplus or EURES vacancy advert.

Workers never pay: creating a profile and replying to jobs are free. Create a free profile so families can contact you directly. You must be 18 or over.

Common questions

Do I have to pay to get a housekeeping job in Malta?

No. Maltese law says no payment or charge may be demanded from anyone looking for work in return for employment services, and nothing may be deducted from your wages for them (S.L. 452.130, reg. 10, checked 15 Sep 2026). Creating a profile and replying to jobs on CarerMalta are always free.

Can I apply from outside Malta?

No. Jobs and profiles on CarerMalta are for people who already live in Malta with the right to work here. CarerMalta doesn't sponsor visas or take part in permit applications, and a job posted here is not a Jobsplus or EURES vacancy advert.

What is the minimum pay for a housekeeper in Malta?

The Domestic Service order sets the 2026 minimums for household workers: €1,016.37 a month for live-in workers who sleep in at least 17 nights a month, €1,000.08 a month for other monthly workers and €5.82 an hour for hourly workers (L.N. 288 of 2025, checked 15 Sep 2026). Your employer also pays two bonuses of €135.10 and two allowances of €121.16 a year (DIER, checked 15 Sep 2026).

Can I work for more than one family?

Not if you hold a single permit: it doesn't allow paid duties for anyone other than the identified employer (Identità, checked 20 Oct 2026). To move to a new family, the new employer applies to Identità for a change of employer.

Who can I call for help?

In an emergency, call 112. For problems with pay, hours or your contract, call DIER's helpline for workers on 1575 (DIER, checked 15 Sep 2026). If you are being abused or threatened, call Supportline on 179.
